The Longest Table, a civic dialogue event featuring a long table and guided discussion, brought together people from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and interests to share a meal and build relationships aimed at fostering a shared vision for the future.

In this webinar, participants learned how this model was implemented at Washington University in St. Louis, where over 200 students, faculty, and staff gathered to kick off the Gephardt Institute’s weekly civic dialogue and learning events. Amid a divisive election season, attendees connected and discussed themes such as:

  • Connecting and Sharing Perspectives
  • Exploring National Politics, Elections, and the Issues at Stake
  • Fostering a Healthy & Inclusive Campus Culture

The webinar highlighted the program's impact at WashU and offered insights on leveraging this model to promote civil dialogue on campuses.
