Amber Butler
Amber Butler is an AmeriCorps member serving as an AmeriCorps Ecosystem Health & Environmental Education Corps Leader with CCAC. She is based in Chicago, Illinois.
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Amber joined Campus Climate Action Corps as a step into the field of environmental education. Before joining, she had experience in socio-environmental research, education/interpretation in a national monument, and worked with a local nonprofit in Arizona to help promote Monarch butterfly populations. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and minors in Spanish and Sustainable and Resilient Communities. Through her education, she discovered a deep passion for political ecology and uncovering the inherent connections between environmental and social issues within the United States – a concept she wishes to expand on in future graduate studies. She is a strong believer in the power education has in empowering individuals to take action against environmental injustices within their communities and aspires to increase access to this kind of education. In her free time, you can find her trying new restaurants in Chicago, traveling, or reading a book on the couch with her two cats Wobbie and Bandit.
