Leah joined Campus Compact as a logical next step in her service journey. After serving her first year with AmeriCorps as a VISTA for a sports-based youth development organization, she came onto Campus Compact as a VISTA Leader to develop training and guiding VISTAs through their service year. She graduated from UMass Amherst in 2019 with an individually crafted degree in Medical Justice and Competencies, in which she wrote her own curriculum and directed her own research in combined majors to look at how society intersects with the body. She's served as a behavioral therapist, independent teacher, teaching assistant, university tutor, peer mentor, team leader, and project leader. She is passionate about collaboratively fighting systemic violence and extractive research, amplifying the voices of communities to co-create solutions that drive sustainable change.
