Campus Compact is convening current and aspiring boundary spanners and change-makers at a three-day in-person retreat designed for community engagement professionals from various institutions, positions, and experience. This event is only open to Campus Compact members.
Our work has never been more important and challenging both personally and professionally. During this retreat, community engagement professionals from across the country will come together to wrestle with the heaviness and urgency of this moment.

Who should attend
We welcome participants aspiring to grow as changemakers advancing the progress of community/civic engagement work at their institution and in the field of higher education. The retreat will be limited to 35 participants to ensure a balance of connection and content.
Application
Our goal is to create a robust and inclusive group of participants. Everyone is asked to complete a simple application process which includes uploading a current resume or curriculum vitae. Apply by June 30.
Retreat Design
The retreat offers dedicated time and space for radical rest, connection, and strategizing. This retreat is intentionally designed to expand your community of practice through reflection, storytelling, and relationship building. We will identify individual strengths, learn how to motivate others, push for institutional change, and develop strategies to address challenges at your respective institutions. Some of the core issues we will work through include:
- Centering social change and equity
- Navigating your institution with shared language
- Collective leadership strategies
- Finding your path as a changemaker
- The change/shift in dynamics within higher education
Design team
The Changemakers Retreat has been thoughtfully designed by a group of field leaders, many of whom will be attending and participating in the retreat. We are appreciative of their leadership and vision for this experience.
