Earlier this month, several members of the Campus Compact team had the opportunity to visit CU Boulder, one of our member campuses. We loved meeting up and sharing a meal with the staff from the Office of Outreach and Engagement. A highlight of the visit was their guided tour of the campus, where we learned more about their approaches to connecting campuswide efforts to public need.
One program we learned about during the tour was Girls At the Museum Exploring Science (GAMES), a collaboration with the on-campus Natural History Museum to engage young girls in STEM learning with student mentors.
We also learned about the history of Los Seis de Boulder, a group of student activists who were tragically killed in the seventies who have recently been memorialized through a community-created art project that resulted in a large mosaic placed prominently on campus.
Huge thanks to the CU Boulder staff for sharing more about your campus and leaving us with such a warm feeling after spending time in your on-campus space. In the coming months, we hope to continue visiting member campuses and building strong relationships throughout the Compact network.
