Campus Compact is excited to announce that five higher education and civic leaders have been named to our Board of Directors; each will serve a three-year term. New Board members include Roslyn Clark Artis, President and CEO of Benedict College, Robert Mong, President of University of North Texas at Dallas, Paul Pribbenow, President of Augsburg University, Cynthia Teniente-Matson, President of San José State University, and Amy Tsui Luke, founder and CEO of Healthspan. Presidents Artis, Mong, Pribbenow, and Teniente-Matson will all serve as members at large, while Ms. Tsui Luke will serve as Treasurer.
"We are excited to welcome President Artis, President Mong, President Pribbenow, President Teniente-Matson, and Ms. Tsui Luke to the Campus Compact Board of Directors,” said Dr. Mary K. Grant, president of Massachusetts College of Art and Design and chair of the Campus Compact Board of Directors. “Each joins us with demonstrated leadership in support of the public purposes of higher education and deep commitment to the work of Campus Compact. Their perspectives, passion, and experience in leading community-engaged institutions will be invaluable to Campus Compact.”
Campus Compact would also like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Katherine Conway-Turner and Cheryl Whaley, whose terms on the Board of Directors have ended. Their leadership over the past six years has been instrumental in moving forward the public purposes of higher education at campuses across the country.
Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis has served as the 14th and first woman president of Benedict College since 2017. Intentional, professional, and thoroughly committed to the proliferation and transformation of colleges and universities that serve underrepresented men and women of color, Artis’ leadership has been recognized locally and nationally. In 2018, she was named “Female HBCU President of the Year” by HBCU Digest. In 2019, Artis was named to Diverse Issues in Higher Education’s “Top 35 Leading Women in Higher Education.” In 2020, Artis was named “President of the Year” by Higher Ed Dive for her leadership in navigating the unprecedented challenges of 2020.
Previously, Artis served as the 13th and first woman President of Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Artis is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she earned a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Policy. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from West Virginia University College of Law, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political science from sister HBCU, West Virginia State University.

Robert Mong has served as the President of the University of North Texas at Dallas and its College of Law since 2015. Under his leadership, the university has experienced transformational growth in enrollment, retention and graduation rates. The number of degrees awarded and has more than doubled and the university has celebrated record enrollment growth 12 of the last 14 semesters.
Before joining UNT Dallas, Mong worked as a journalist for more than 40 years, most of it at The Dallas Morning News, where he served as managing editor and later as editor-in-chief. He also gained considerable business experience as the paper's general manager, and as CEO of the Messenger-Inquirer, a daily newspaper in Owensboro, Ky. Throughout his business and journalism career, higher education was Mong's principal outlet for volunteer activities. He became a national leader by creating joint appointments between universities and The Dallas Morning News.
He graduated from Haverford College in 1971, where he attended school on a Scott Paper Company Scholarship. He also attended Stanford University's Executive Program in the Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Paul C. Pribbenow is the 10th president of Augsburg University, a private liberal arts university in Minneapolis, associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Since joining Augsburg in 2006, Pribbenow has enhanced the university’s role as an active community partner in its urban setting. By identifying and embracing initiatives that mutually benefit Augsburg and its neighbors, the university has achieved national recognition for its excellence in service learning and experiential education. This will be Pribbenow’s second term as a member of the Campus Compact Board of Directors.
Pribbenow previously served as president of Rockford College (now Rockford University) in Rockford, Illinois. He also has served as a research fellow for the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College (Indiana), dean for College Advancement and secretary of the Board of Trustees at Wabash College, vice president of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and associate dean of the Divinity School of the University of Chicago.
Pribbenow holds a bachelor’s degree from Luther College (Iowa) and a master’s degree and doctorate in social ethics from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson serves as the 31st president of San José State University. An internationally-recognized Latina leader, Teniente-Matson is a champion of student success initiatives; diversity, equity and inclusion; civic engagement; and experiential learning. Throughout her career that spans more than 30 years in higher education, Teniente-Matson has always put students first, engaging in strategic partnerships and serving on numerous national educational-governing and civic boards geared toward enhancing the student experience. Prior to her appointment at SJSU in January 2023, Teniente-Matson led Texas A&M University-San Antonio from 2015 to 2023.
Teniente-Matson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, her Master of Business Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fresno.

Amy Tsui Luke is a strategic and creative leader who has had an expansive 25-year career in consulting, investment banking, non-profit, and media. Currently, she is the founder and CEO of Healthspan, an early stage wellness consulting practice. She is also a strategic and financial advisor to Sportzpeak, a sports medicine technology company.
Previously, she was CEO, North America and Partner at The Boston Consulting Group Expand Research, where she was responsible for leading strategic growth, integration, and people development. Earlier, Amy was a Managing Director and Partner at Accenture where she was a leader in the Capital Markets practice and also led business development for all industry groups for the New York Metro office. Amy was also an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston, a strategy consultant at BCG, and a senior executive at Forbes. Amy holds a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Wellesley College.
