Tell us a bit about yourself!
At North Middle School I worked in the classroom with 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. I facilitated discussions that helped students learn and identify critical civic engagement elements. Throughout this process, I have encouraged students to find a deeper understanding of what is required to achieve a positive and efficient community.
What have you learned from your AmeriCorps K2H service?
Throughout my AmeriCorps K2H service project, I have learned building a better tomorrow indeed is a team project. Through community engagement, ongoing collaborations, and tenacity building a better tomorrow can be possible. More importantly, positive relationships along the way are imperative for creating change.
What is your proudest achievement from your time with AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps allowed for so many opportunities to serve in ways that I could never imagine. However, my proudest achievement through my AmeriCorps K2H service project would be when I decided to take the opportunity to explore working at North Middle School. Prior to this experience I never saw or imagined myself serving middle school students. However, this opportunity has created total enlightenment for me. While working with such a wonderful age group, it created a zeal for me. I am now more driven and ambitious and found my new career goal which involves working with youth.
