We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Engagement Coordinator to support, develop and coordinate programs and initiatives focused on engaging students in civic leadership development.

Under the direct supervision of the Student Engagement Manager, the Coordinator plays a critical role in the ideation, development, and implementation of student-facing activities, projects, and initiatives—including the centering of student voice. As one of two key points of contact for the Newman Civic Fellows program, the coordinator works with the Student Engagement manager to ensure all aspects of the fellows’ program are executed effectively. This position is about making things happen and making a difference in the lives of college students across the country. This is a great opportunity for leadership and professional growth and is a critical role for Campus Compact in a time of rapid expansion.

Summary of what you'll do:

  • Assist in designing student-facing Compact program offerings, including Compact’s Newman Civic Fellowship, that connect students across campuses to advance their capacity as changemakers, civic engagement movement builders, and problem solvers. 
  • Coordinate essential communications, logistics, and planning for new student-facing programming and be a primary contact for student participants. 
  • Support the student voice, agency, and leadership in shaping Compact’s future student initiatives by organizing student design teams, focus groups, and other opportunities. 
  • Plan and execute virtual and in-person, student-focused events, meetings, webinars, and conferences, including contributing to program design and leading logistic execution (e.g., space, tech, speakers, etc.)
  • Advance partnerships and collaborations with other entities and initiatives that connect and engage students from diverse institutions across the country. 
  • Support program evaluation and assessment by supporting data collection and assessment activities, including tracking relevant program data in Compact’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Support the organization-wide efforts to integrate and deepen diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Other duties as assigned

You understand how to manage multiple types of tasks and activities with diverse timelines and deliverables. You are a self-starter and willing to jump in and solve problems proactively.
     
  • You are an analytical thinker with the ability to implement tactically. You have at least an associate's or a bachelor’s degree. You hold the "big picture" and take a hands-on approach to translating strategy into day-to-day activities. You have a track record of setting priorities and creating structures, processes, and procedures that foster financial health and organizational accountability.
     
  • You are a tech-savvy and well-organized doer. You bring strong knowledge of commonly used office and project management software. You have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, work under deadlines, and manage the work of diverse stakeholders. Your work product is meticulous and accurate.
     
  • You are an adaptable and resourceful team player. You possess a “get it done” attitude, with the ability to stay focused and nimble in a dynamic environment. You are effective at building positive relationships with colleagues and are committed to professional learning and growth. 

The following qualifications are preferred: 

  • 1-3 years of related experience in non-profit or higher education with experience designing and organizing student-focused experiences
  • Strong understanding of civic engagement, social responsibility, and higher education community engagement
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising

Compensation

$48,000-55,000 depending on qualifications and experience. This is a grant-funded position, subject to annual renewal based on secured funding. Location

Campus Compact is headquartered in Boston, MA, with a national geographically distributed staff. This position is fully remote, with the option of working a hybrid schedule in our Boston or Chicago office.
