Campus Compact & HUD Foster Youth Housing Initiative: A Town Hall Update
Dec 12, 2024 /12:00pm - 2:00pm EST
The Foster Care Youth Housing Initiative at Campus Compact is an outgrowth of our partnership with the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that aims to find ways to better connect community-engaged higher education institutions with local public housing authorities to serve our students and communities.
There is a devastatingly low national undergraduate college completion rate of just 3-4% for foster care youth. And diving deeper into the surrounding causes and drivers we know, housing is a critical component to access and completion of college degrees.
We are excited to convene this Town Hall to have important dialogue around and to collaboratively address ways for higher education to partner effectively with their local public housing authorities (PHA) to support foster care youth in having housing during their college experience.
