The Allstate Foundation is committed to empowering youth to serve and improve communities by equipping them with opportunities and resources to serve.  As a part of that commitment, the Foundation has partnered with Campus Compact to launch The Allstate Foundation Youth Action Board, funded by The Allstate Foundation and hosted by Campus Compact.

This board will empower 30 youth changemakers (aged 18-22) to serve communities nationally and mobilize their peers to serve.  The 30-member board will be responsible for helping The Allstate Foundation advance its strategy for empowering youth to serve and improve communities across the country.  The board will achieve this mission by developing and participating in youth-led service initiatives, planning and launching national youth engagement efforts (including summits and days of service), advising The Allstate Foundation and its partners on pressing youth issues, and more.

Board Composition

The Youth Action Board will comprise thirty members serving two-year, staggered terms. The board will be comprised of fifteen Associate Board Members and fifteen Senior Board Members. Each year, fifteen new Associate Board members will be chosen to work alongside the fifteen returning Senior Board Members to make up the full board.

The Youth Action Board is designed so that Associate Board Members will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to be considered for Senior Board Member status during their second year of service. Second year board membership will be dependent on successful completion of the Associate Board Member's first year.  This provides continuity on the Board and the opportunity for peer mentorship between Senior and Associate Board Members.

Board Activities

During their service on the Youth Action Board, Members will:

  • Develop and participate in initiatives that promote and expand access to youth service (including national summits and days of youth-led, youth-driven service)
  • Equip other youth with the knowledge and resources to lead their own service by contributing to content and other thought leadership
  • Advise The Allstate Foundation and serve as ambassadors for the Foundation’s Youth Empowerment work
  • Attend and participate in other youth-focused initiatives or related duties as assigned

Additionally, Youth Action Board members will meet in-person up to four times per year, and the average monthly time commitment will be approximately 20 hours per month.

Benefits of Participation

As a benefit of their Board service, Members will:

  • Receive $4,000 stipends upon completion of each year of Board service (totaling up to $8,000 across two years). The stipends may be used for post-secondary education at a four-year, two-year, or vocational training program or for approved professional development purposes. Stipends must be used within one year of completing board experience (or within one year of completing high school)
  • All travel, lodging, and meal expenses of Youth Action Board members are covered for all in-person board meetings initiated by Campus Compact and The Allstate Foundation relative to Youth Action Board activities. The Youth Action Board Program Manager, a member of the Campus Compact staff, will coordinate these travel experiences and expenses
  • Be connected to national field leaders through Campus Compact and The Allstate Foundation for mentorship and coaching
  • Be included in a network of Board Members and alumni

Note: Board Members will not be compensated for their time beyond the stipend at the end of their Board experience. There is no personal financial cost associated with serving on The Allstate Foundation Youth Action Board.
