Personal Statement

As a future teacher and advocate for social justice, I have always believed in the power of education to transform lives and communities. Throughout my upbringing, I have carried a deep inclination to use my voice to advocate for those who are often silenced by society. My approach to social justice stems from my journey from attending an inclusive school, where students with and without disabilities learn together, to pursuing a Master's in Urban Education & Social Justice, which has shaped my understanding of the importance of fostering compassion and solidarity. I am committed to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and showcasing their strengths. Through my Bilingual Authorization track, I aim to support students from low-income, immigrant backgrounds, recognizing the vital role educators play in empowering youth to enact positive change. I see myself not just as a teacher, but as an activist, guiding the next generation towards a more inclusive and empathetic world. Together, we can address the root causes of social issues and collaboratively develop innovative strategies for building a more equitable society.
