Personal Statement
Ever since I was very young, I knew that I had a passion for advocating for others. When I came to UMass Dartmouth a year and a half ago, off the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had a specific vision of my goals. I wanted to begin my journey of social change right here on campus. I joined the Student Government Association as a senator for the Class of 2025 and chair our Student Affairs Committee this year. As I learned more about the world and the realities that many people face, I grew more myself. I began to see how the best way to help people is not just leading but also listening. It is a skill I did not always have but one I now know is most important. I improved at that by surrounding myself with people from all parts of the world. I constantly ask questions and listen rather than answer. My journey of enacting real social change in the world began at UMass Dartmouth, but there is always more work to be done and I will never stop fighting for it.
