Personal Statement
I first became involved in advocacy of civic engagement at twelve years old. In my younger years, I participated in 4-H and Generation Joshua to help promote community issues involving local, state, and national politics regarding campaigns and elections. As I began to mature and develop my passions, I acquired more opportunities to expand my efforts of advocacy for civic engagement. On campus, I co-lead the Morningside Civic Union for Civic Engagement, am a member of the Colonel Bud-Day Center, and serve as a Senator in Morningside’s Student Government. By being proactive in these groups, I am now informed on how to create grassroots movements and facilitate events for communities around me. Grassroots movements are the catalyst for change in a government system such as the United States. As my academic career evolves, I continue to develop knowledge on how to effectively communicate and champion civic engagement opportunities to promote discourse and interrelation between the public and government institutions.
