Personal Statement
In high school, while other students would state their desire to be doctors, teachers, and business owners, I never knew what I wanted to become. The one fact that I did know was that whatever job I was going to have in the future, I wanted it to be one with a purpose. I came into college as an undeclared major and became involved in many positions within campus ministry, such as becoming a Moreau Student Minister, an Intern for our community engagement program called L.I.G.H.T., and embarking on a H.O.P.E. service immersion trip. Through all of these positions, I have had the opportunities to become engaged with a multitude of different types of service, which has helped guide me to see my passion for being a social worker. In the future, I’m not looking to inherit a large position of power but rather make a difference in small ways where my heart feels at home. I believe small actions can make as much of an impact as larger ones. I am very thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given that have helped me learn what is within my power to change and improve.
