Over the next 10 months, Campus Compact will overhaul the Community Engagement Professional Credentialing Program to improve accessibility and increase opportunities for learning and growth. During this process, the existing Credentialing Program will be suspended, with the goal of resuming credential applications in Spring 2025.
To ensure a smooth transition, any community engagement practitioners currently seeking credentials will be able to complete their application, but new applications will not be accepted. Similarly, the application process for full certification will be suspended until the program resumes next Spring.
The updated Credentialing Program will serve as a professional development program that focuses on learning and growth, rather than just demonstrating existing knowledge. As part of this, each credential focus area will feature modules to help practitioners build their skills and contribute to their eventual credentialing. The program will also aim to expand accessibility to be useful and relevant to a wider audience, including those new to the field, graduate students, and practitioners who aim to develop their skills.
To contribute to the redesign of the Credentialing Program, Campus Compact has brought on a team of five fellows. Fellows will combine research conducted by the Community Engagement Professional Competency Research Team with their own knowledge, experience, and expertise to develop modules for five competency areas: Community Engagement Fundamentals, Community Partnerships, Equity & Inclusion, Engaged Learning & Teaching, and Engaged Research.
After this initial launch, Campus Compact will introduce learning modules for the remaining four credentials in the following months.
