Hear from Campus Compact Professional Development Manager, Emily Phaup, about the recent retreat for the Pathways for Public Service and Civic Engagement Working Group members
I was delighted to join members of the Pathways Working Group at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah last month for sharing and visioning as the project launches into a new phase of development. We discussed how they are currently using the Pathways framework and survey, imagined opportunities to capitalize on the breadth of data that has been collected, and strategized about how to expand access to the survey to reach even more students and institutions across the country.
The Pathways framework and survey aim to advance our understanding of students’ interests and predispositions regarding approaches to social change. Just this year, Campus Compact partnered with the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University to expand the project’s reach and support its associated Working Group.
Highlights from our time together included hearing from an impressive panel of UVU students who emphasized the meaningful impact the framework has had on their lives, participating in a brainstorming session about the range of research that we could pursue with the years of survey data, and being a part of collaborative relationship building among Working Group members who shared resources and stories from their home institutions. I was inspired by the commitment of UVU’s Center for Social Impact and the thoughtful integration of the Pathways in all that they do.
I look forward to leading the Pathways Working Group in my position with Campus Compact as we move forward in this new partnership. The retreat served as deep inspiration for the capacity building that is possible with this truly impactful survey and framework shepharded by such a dedicated team.
