I know that summer can be a great time to reflect on the past academic year and find time to enhance your practice or re-invigorate your program leadership. Campus Compact is here to support you with some unique summer learning opportunities and tips that may help further your professional development.
Join a summer community of practice
Our Communities of Practice provide a unique opportunity to join community engagement practitioners from around the country to dig deeper into specific areas of engagement practice. Apply by June 17 to join in on shared learning, knowledge exchange, and collegial support.
Begin earning our new Equity & Inclusion Credential
The Equity & Inclusion Credential encourages and supports practitioners as they reflect on, articulate, and analyze their individual commitments and actions—as well as those of their institution—to advance diversity, equity, anti-racism, and inclusion. Our new preparation guidebook will help you imagine and design ways to work with colleagues to identify and analyze your commitments, practices, and future learning trajectories. Submission will open in September 2022, so now is a great time to begin our guided process to create your application materials.
Catch up on your reading list
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may have missed this excellent recent publication from Marshall Welch and Star Plaxton-Moore. The Craft of Community-Engaged Teaching & Learning is designed to support community-engaged faculty development and offers blueprints and useful tools for improving your community-engaged teaching & scholarship. The publication also includes a downloadable companion workbook.
I think this is a great summer book club selection for community engagement professionals and an excellent text to use in summer faculty development training.
Coming Soon: A New & Improved Resource Library
Before the end of the summer, we'll have even more tools for you to use. We will soon be launching a new website, and with it, a new and vastly improved Resource Library. The library will include:
- Updated scholarly resources
- An enhanced & expanded collection of curated knowledge hubs
- A revised syllabus library
- A new repository of tenure & promotion materials
- An advanced search engine that will make it easy (and hopefully fun!) to find what you are looking for
We'll also offer some great new features, like the ability for Campus Compact members to save lists of favorite resources for easy future reference and a simple form to submit new tools to the collection. I am confident that our new resource library will be a treasure trove for anyone seeking resources to advance institutional priorities or enhance their own professional practice.
Whether you are looking forward to some down time or rushing headlong into full-time seasonal programming, I wish you a meaningful and productive summer. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have about the programs above or about other ways that Campus Compact may be able to support your professional learning needs.
