During the past three months, our Campus Compact VISTA members have been working on their Project Showcases, a project where VISTA members showcase the work they’ve been doing during their service year. The project showcase consists of an impact statement and a video describing how they built capacity at their host site and what they’ve learned during their year of service. Once the VISTA Members complete their Project Showcases, they present them to their fellow VISTA Members as well as their host site supervisors. We are proud of our VISTA Members for all of the time and effort they put into their showcases. Let’s take a look at some highlights from their projects!
Our first Project Showcase is from Max Lillich, our VISTA member serving at the University of Kansas. Max’s project focused on assisting in the development of the Student Community Action Corps.
Our next Project Showcase is from Autumn Guntor, our VISTA Member placed at Smith College. While at Smith, Autumn has focused on coordinating and building capacity for the Smiith College Food Rescue Network.
Our last Project Showcase is from Oscar Rodriguez-Ortiz, our VISTA Member placed at Stanford University’s Canopy project. During his service year, Oscar focused on advocacy and education surrounding the nonprofit organization Canopy, which aims to grow urban tree canopies in Midpeninsula communities.
As our 23-24 VISTA Members wrap up their service year, we want to congratulate them on all the great work they’ve done at their respective host sites. Our VISTA Members challenged themselves to step out of their comfort zones, build new skills, and forge strong connections. Project Showcase is a lasting example of how dedicated they were to their role as VISTAs and how compassionate they are about the communities they serve. To our 23-24 VISTA Members: THANK YOU!
