Celebrating 30 Years of AmeriCorps

Celebrating 30 years of AmeriCorps, Campus Compact proudly supports impactful service programs like VISTA, CRCorps, and CCAC, advocating for continued federal funding to empower individuals, build communities, and make a lasting impact.

Thirty years ago, over 200 Americans pledged their commitment to serve and make a difference through AmeriCorps. Today, more than 1.25 million Americans contribute billions of hours of AmeriCorps service in communities nationwide. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary, Campus Compact is proud to be a long-term partner with AmeriCorps. Through various AmeriCorps programs, Campus Compact works to increase the capacity of colleges and community partners to engage students, recent graduates, and community members and make an impact on key issue areas like poverty, climate change, and workforce development. Below, learn more about some of the Campus Compact AmeriCorps programs and how AmeriCorps continues to be an essential resource for our country in addressing public problems.

The AmeriCorps VISTA Program at Campus Compact places members in year-long terms of service, working behind the scenes to expand and enhance programs that impact low-income individuals on college campuses and in communities. Campus Compact leads administration, grant compliance, and member support, ensuring seamless hosting and empowering national cohorts to address diverse community challenges.

Our new national leadership program, College Renaissance Course (CRCorps), empowers community college students to become industry and community leaders. Through CRCorps, students who join the program become CRCorps Industry Ambassadors, connect with industry leaders, build career skills, and serve as examples of success with a community college education.

A Campus Compact initiative, Campus Climate Action Corps (CCAC), is set to launch in the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. CCAC AmeriCorps Members will host community environmental education events, conduct home energy assessments, and implement interventions to advance public knowledge and motivate energy conservation to support campus/community partnerships that address urgent climate issues, lower energy costs for low-income households, and improve at-risk ecosystems.

As we honor three decades of AmeriCorps impactful community service, Campus Compact is proud to be a part of this movement. We are committed to continuing our partnership to empower individuals, build communities, and make a lasting difference.

We are also dedicated to ensuring AmeriCorps remains a strong, well-funded federal initiative. Read our letter to the congressional appropriations committees in support of continued funding for AmeriCorps. We encourage you to use your voice to support this ongoing and essential work.
