From the president
Stephanie Jimenez is a second-year student at UTA, who is always looking for ways to help students have better access to their resources and to help their voices to be heard. Recently, Stephanie became an ACE Student Ambassador in the Center for Service Learning to build relationships and increase students’ awareness of ways students can work in reciprocity with nonprofit organizations to gain real-life professional experience while benefiting nonprofit agencies. She’s currently studying sustainable urban design so that one day she can help others in the community.
Personal Statement
Since I was little, I have always used public transportation everywhere I go. But since I moved to Dallas, I found that public transportation was more than just a few stops here and there. Public transportation became my favorite topic for everything related to cities. The first time that I became very interested in helping improve public transportation was when I was in high school and worked closely with UTA on a project that looked for environmental/social issues around different communities. After analyzing different communities in this project, I realized that we had a bigger problem, and it was that over time, communities were being segregated because of their economic status or their race. This project made me realize my love for social issues and city planning.
