Personal Statement
Embracing the quote, “Little drops of water make the mighty ocean,” I endeavor to navigate my journey as a first-generation student and athlete at UMass Dartmouth. As I'm in my sophomore year, I am committed to enhancing campus life and effecting change. I joined the Student Government Association as a senator and chair our Library, Research, and Technology Standing Committee. It has become my priority to amplify student voices and foster student engagement on campus. Additionally, I have become a tutor at the school’s Writing and Multiliteracy Center, where I aim to cultivate a safe and non-judgmental space for students to build confidence within themselves and their writing. As a member of the school’s Softball Team, I understand the importance of balance and discipline. Despite the demanding schedule of practices, games, and travel, I make it a point to excel both academically and socially. I believe that by utilizing my platform as a student-athlete, senator, and tutor, I can contribute to creating a more inclusive, supportive, and vibrant campus environment for all. Just as every drop contributes to the ocean, I recognize the power of my actions, no matter how small they may seem, in effecting meaningful change.
