From the president
Christopher Prymus is a second-year student at Tunxis Community College; he is a steward of the school and communities he is involved in. He has been active in addressing reform issues, creating positive growth, and a better society for all. He has been actively involved in many areas on campus to create better access to information and resources available to the student body - promoting a healthy, positive environment with proper communication and transparency. He is currently heading the Phi Theta Kapp honors society to address accessibility issues, serves on an advisory board for the Civic Engagement institution, and is involved with the state general assembly legislative internship. Promoting better accessibility for all and encouraging open, transparent access to information and resources. He plans to continue his education at one of our state’s public universities with strong desires to continue being involved both on and off campus to help cultivate a better future. Through cultivating and engaging in positive relationships with faculty, administration, and the student body, his work in communities and the General assembly, he listens to all for ideas to develop and implement change to better suit the needs of our ever-changing society in a beneficial way.
Personal Statement
I started pursuing ways to get more involved in my communities to create and influence positive change from experiencing personal hardships and seeing first hand the differences in accessibility to resources and opportunities and the complications associated with both. Many of our systems are grossly outdated, needing to be adjusted and updated to current times. On campus, I’m president of the honor society assisting our schools’ honors in action program which focuses on rules of play and accessibility issues and helped create a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for veterans, involved in business club, the civic engagement institute promoting and educating the student body on civic engagement knowledge and opportunities, student government, and various other organizations. Off campus, I’m currently participating in the state general assembly legislative internship program. This gives invaluable access to the political leaders of my state, and gives me a front row seat to the legislative process and what goes into implementing change and growth. Through this accessibility and access to resources I want to positively influence the communities I’m involved in, giving better access, promoting positivity, equity, and change for a more prosperous and healthy society regardless of ethnic or socioeconomic background.
