We just concluded AmeriCorps Week, where we celebrated AmeriCorps members nationwide. At Campus Compact we are especially grateful to our 28 AmeriCorps VISTA members who have dedicated their year of service to making an impact on college campuses across the country.

We just concluded AmeriCorps Week, where we celebrated AmeriCorps members nationwide. At Campus Compact we are especially grateful to our 28 AmeriCorps VISTA members who have dedicated their year of service to making an impact on college campuses across the country.

To celebrate the work of our AmeriCorps VISTA members, we highlighted the work of different Corps members on our social media accounts and website. We featured the stories of Campus Compact Americorps VISTA members like Grace Thayer who is increasing food security on the Wheaton College campus by increasing students' access to their food pantry. We also shared a blog post on Corps member Stephanie Soward, who is developing and launching an innovative program intended to increase college access for students in Indiana.

In a wrap-up to AmeriCorps Week, the National Service Congressional Caucus announced its leaders for the 118th Congress. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) will chair the Caucus in the Senate, and they will be joined by new Vice Chairs Senator Shelley Moore-Capito (R-WV) and Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM). In the House, Representative Garret Graves (R-LA) and Representative Doris Matsui (D-CA) will co-chair the Caucus. At Campus Compact, we are excited to see this expanded bipartisan leadership team which prioritizes national service and recognizes the value that AmeriCorps brings to our communities.

“Throughout AmeriCorps Week, we celebrate AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who get things done for America, support local organizations that address urgent needs, and encourage others to follow in their footsteps of service. Often the first on the ground and last to leave—they are always ready to answer the call to serve.” - AmeriCorps

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our outstanding AmeriCorps VISTA members and the work of AmeriCorps members everywhere!
