Campus Compact Names Recipients of the 1995 Ehrlich Faculty Award

Cathy Comstock

Cathy Comstock was given the award in recognition of her outstanding efforts to integrate service into the curriculum and to advance the institutionalization of service learning at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

For the last eight years, Dr. Comstock has taught innovative service-learning courses, including two current courses, “Discourse Analysis and Cultural Criticism” and “Literature and Social Violence,” both of which integrate service with the teaching of literature.

Dr. Comstock serves as Chair of the Faculty Council for Service Learning; is Associate Director of the Farrand Residential Academic Program, a living-learning community of four hundred students; has significant experience helping faculty to develop courses that integrate service and academic study and is author of “Literature and Service Learning: Not Strange Bedfellows.”
