Campus Compact is a coalition of 300+ colleges and universities across 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Mexico. From civic learning initiatives at research universities to community-based programs at liberal arts colleges to workforce and regional partnerships at community colleges, the colleges and universities that are Campus Compact members are advancing the public purposes of higher education in ways that reflect their unique missions, contexts, and communities.

Since our founding in 1985, Campus Compact has supported, connected, and amplified our members as they work to advance the public purposes of higher education in ways that reflect their unique missions, contexts, and communities. We are both a national coalition and a professional networkWhen your campus joins the Compact, your faculty, staff, and students gain access to a wide variety of benefits that drive community impact.

  • Professional development opportunities for faculty and staff—including regular webinars, in-person events, and training programs—that help them hone their skills and build a powerful network of peers in the higher education civic and community engagement field.
  • Programs that empower students to take action, nurture their passions, and provide them with the on-ramps they need to get involved in their communities and actively engage in our democracy
  • Tools and resources that facilitate institutional action & build capacity for campuses to strengthen their civic mission
  • Opportunities to work collectively with campuses across the country to advance policy, advocacy, and narrative change that reinforces the foundational role of colleges and universities play in our democracy.
  • Affinity networks and opportunities for regional connection that break down silos between institutions and allow for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and exchange
  • Access to of-the-moment research and publications that lift up new and leading-edge voices on topics like community-based teaching, campus-community partnership development, and more.
  • Partnerships and funding opportunities with leading foundations, national organizations, and institutional partners to scale impact and support innovation across higher education.

To get the most out of these benefits, many campuses designate a Campus Champion to help coordinate engagement and ensure the right people across campus are connected and supported. Campus Champions receive dedicated support, training, and curated opportunities to connect with peers.
