From the president
Wynne Dromey, a third-year student at Clark University, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to kindness and community. A double major in studio art and marketing with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation, Wynne seeks to leverage art and social entrepreneurship to address the challenges surrounding homelessness. This summer, Wynne will volunteer with a local organization supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. Wynne will collaborate with local unhoused individuals to develop an art series to raise awareness of the experiences of the unhoused. The art exhibition will be displayed at local municipal sites, and sales of prints from the exhibition will be directed toward a local organization addressing homelessness. Wynne seeks to utilize her art to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging, while also serving as a tool to inspire change.
Personal Statement
As an artist and entrepreneur, I often consider ways in which I can use creativity to make a positive impact on others in my community. Entrepreneurship has taught me the importance of finding a problem and using my tools and resources to create innovative solutions. Living in a world where housing and education are a privilege rather than a guarantee, I realized I wanted to make a difference with my work: using art to address homelessness. Through this independent project, I am working to understand the systemic issues and root causes of homelessness in Worcester. I will continue this project by volunteering with Meals on Main Street. After connecting with unhoused individuals through interviews, I will create a work that highlights their experiences and expresses their shared need for a sense of love and belonging. This work will be displayed in a solo show across various public and community spaces and through my social media. Ultimately, I hope to change how we view and interact with unhoused individuals by creating more empathy and acceptance towards the various backgrounds and identities that may differ from our own.
