Personal Statement

I believe that the best way to start solving civic problems we face in our society is to make citizens understand the difficulties underrepresented groups face. One of the best methods of bridging that gap is education. Throughout my life, I’ve played an active role in my community, whether through organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America or personally serving in charitable organizations. While here at Salve, I try to continue playing an active part in the community as a student leader and a member of the Student Government Association. As a future educator, it’s my responsibility to ensure that my students understand the challenges that different individuals in our society face. My aim in solving social issues would be to educate younger generations to ensure they’re exposed to various cultures and lifestyles and grow up with an open mindset. Educating others is just the first step in solving social issues, as action must also be taken in order to bring about real change. I plan on being an active member of any community I live in and encouraging my students to become involved.
