From the president

As a BGSU student, Danielle has demonstrated a deep understanding of civic engagement, contributing to the communities of Bowling Green, greater northwest Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, through her leadership and service. Danielle has taken advantage of leadership opportunities in multiple groups, including fraternity and sorority life and the Sidney A. Ribeau President's Leadership Academy. Danielle Cain has been elected for the second term as the President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council at Bowling Green State University. In this capacity, she serves as a vocal advocate, both on campus and in broader communities, for the historically African American fraternities and sororities at BGSU. As the Treasurer and 2023 Membership Chairman for the Illustrious Iota Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Danielle has led efforts to grow her chapter, resulting in the first in-person probate of the chapter since 2015. In August of 2022, BGSU launched BGSUserves, a volunteer tracking platform, and has been actively recruiting students to use the tool to encourage community service. Through her peer advocacy, Danielle has grown engagement with the platform, resulting in more than 30% of all our students utilizing BGSUserves, tracking more than 100,000 service hours. Danielle's advocacy has made a significant difference in the platform's success, impacting the entire region. Danielle is pursuing a career in law with the hopes of becoming a Criminal Defense Attorney and leading court system reform. Not only does Danielle engage with service, but she commits to understanding and addressing what affects her communities.

Personal Statement

It is said that the foundation of leadership is relationships. I've actively created meaningful connections, and it is through these connections that my leadership is more reliable and trustworthy. It is also said that the foundation of a leader is credibility. Through the relationships I develop, I add to the credibility of my character, allowing others to see the true leadership qualities that I possess. I believe an important way to take on service is to find a service opportunity that interests you! There is a wide range of ways that one can serve and give back to their community. Once you begin to find the joy in giving back, you're inclined to make it a regular practice. Witnessing the joy and relief I bring to others through service motivates me to continue giving back without expecting anything in return. Embracing this mindset allows me to embody what it means to truly serve the public good.
