From the president

Aditi Nambiar, a fourth-year student at the University of Washington Bothell, is a student leader with a strong passion for innovative storytelling and a commitment to social justice. Having served as editor-in-chief of UW Bothell’s campus newspaper, The Husky Herald, since the start of her first year, Aditi has collaborated with student contributors and shared the many distinct stories and lived experiences of our diverse campus community. Promoting participatory media culture, she has actively sought out discourse within the student body and partnered with key campus programs and representatives to cover important issues impacting our community. Through community outreach and journalism, Aditi aims to enrich our collective perspective on the intersectionality of our identities and how they shape our narratives in unique ways. She has learned to engage in proactive inquiry, lead with empathy, and embrace adaptability with the crafting of each story. Aditi is eager to bring forward underrepresented perspectives with civic involvement with a fine-tuned sensitivity of the human experience.

Personal Statement

As a dedicated student leader with a strong passion for innovative storytelling, I place social justice at the forefront of my work as I believe that recognizing and celebrating our individualities can foster stronger unity. Having served as Editor-in-Chief of our campus newspaper, The Husky Herald, for over three consecutive years, I have had the privilege to collaborate with numerous student contributors to spotlight the extraordinary stories and lived experiences of our vibrant campus community. I have worked diligently to amplify diverse perspectives, promoting active and informed dialogue within the student body through community event organizing and civic engagement.

I am motivated to address and uplift community affairs by advocating for meaningful change. With the crafting of each story, I engage in proactive inquiry, lead with empathy, embrace adaptability, and uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity while covering complex issues. As a senior double-majoring in Media & Communication Studies and Psychology with a minor in Science, Technology, and Society, I strive to enrich our collective perspective on how our intersectional identities uniquely shape our narratives through progressive journalism and community outreach. An honored recipient of the 2024 Chancellor’s Student Civic Leadership Award, I am committed to illuminating underrepresented voices with a nuanced understanding of media culture and the human experience.
