Raven CooperMeet Raven, Campus Compact's College Renaissance Corps (CRCorps) Houston Program Coordinator. Raven is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and later went to Southern University in Baton Rouge. She currently resides in Houston, Texas and is getting her MBA through Lamar University. When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her son and listening to True Crime podcasts.

As CRCorps’ Houston Program Coordinator, Raven will be responsible for implementing the program in Houston by recruiting members, getting them connected to our partners in the area, and making sure that they have all of the tools and resources they need to be successful. She’s looking forward to “getting out into the community, talking to people, figuring out what they're interested in…connecting the dots, and getting them there.” “I'm big on being an advocate,” Raven says.

In her role, Raven is looking forward to “connecting education and service.” She thinks of those as two “important pillars” that can be used to leverage resources to help communities. She sees CRCorps as a way to “revitalize civic engagement,” and as a way to connect Corps members' passions with their involvement in civic engagement.

“I'm just excited. I’m super thrilled to learn,” Raven says about being on the team. “I'm super excited about getting to learn more about Campus Compact and AmeriCorps because the whole mission itself is just awesome…[I’m excited about] being able to spread the word.”
