This November, newly elected government officials will form transition teams as they prepare to take office. During this crucial transition campuses have a unique opportunity to engage, ensuring that local leaders gather community input and build diverse and inclusive governments.
Campus Compact recently hosted a webinar introducing the Civic Transition Toolkit, an online resource that provides the simple steps to support an effective government transition at state and local levels. This guide is inspired by the Moore-Miller gubernatorial transition team in Maryland, whose unique approach created a historically diverse and inclusive transition that engaged the public at every step.
The webinar includes a Q&A with University of Maryland's Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement Director Dr. Micheal Hanmer and Tisha Edwards, MSW, JD, Secretary of Appointments, Office of Governor Wes Moore. They provide a quick walkthrough of this powerful toolkit and how The Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement partnered with the Governor’s transition team.
