Personal Statement

While volunteering with different organizations, I discovered a strong passion for helping individuals facing challenging life situations. I believe that individuals such as those who are currently incarcerated or recently released, those who suffer from housing insecurity, and those who are impacted by domestic violence are often overlooked in a society that is not built to protect them and is not quick to take actions that would support them. Although these circumstances are not uncommon within a community, they are too frequently neglected despite an overwhelming need for support from others. This injustice is a main aspect of what fuels my desire to serve others and make a difference within my community. By committing to work with nonprofit organizations and other groups dedicated to missions of change, I aim to cultivate a community that is intentional in its efforts to better the lives of all those within it.
