From the president

Wren Stoddard, a nursing student at Mount Wachusett Community College, is a student leader deeply committed to advancing equity and inclusion on campus. Over the past two years, Wren has served as president of both the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) and the Student Government Association (SGA), making history as the college's first openly transgender SGA president. In these roles, Wren has led campus-wide efforts to educate peers, faculty, and staff on gender identity, pronoun use, and inclusive practices, helping foster a more supportive and informed environment for all students. They also championed the diversification of campus food options to better serve vegetarian and vegan students.

Currently serving as a Student Leader in Civic Engagement, Wren supports fellow students and college staff in developing inclusive policies and expanding access to campus resources, as well as service and volunteerism. They plan to continue their advocacy through a career in nursing, with a focus on health equity and supporting underserved communities.

Personal Statement

I am passionate about helping underserved communities and have worked with trans youth, advocated for gender neutral bathrooms on my campus, fought for vegan food options in our cafeteria, and helped to get recognition for academic excellence for our part-time students. I always start by finding and reaching out to those who can assist me in making change. I gather like-minded peers together to develop exactly what we want achieved, what steps we need to take to achieve it, and reach out to those in power who can help us achieve our goals. I also enjoy supporting my fellow peers in their social endeavors. I feel as though I am a good person to ask about how to make change happen on the campus because I have been involved in so much of it. Although I am told I am stubborn, I am always open to constructive criticism and feedback and willing to listen to opposing arguments. I am very excited to be given this amazing opportunity!
