Description

This archive contains audio and video recordings from two meetings of experienced service-learning practitioners in higher education, sharing and reflecting on their practice. They explore the emergence and ongoing institutionalization of the field of service-learning from its beginnings in the 1960s to the current time. The initial meeting, The Wingspread Meeting 1995, brought together thirty-eight service-learning practitioners who were active in service-learning beginning in the 1960s. The second meeting, The Gathering 2017, held in Golden, Colorado brought together twelve of those same "pioneers" and sixteen current service-learning practitioners to explore how the service-learning field has evolved and changed and examine the field's current challenges as the practice of service-learning has become more "mainstream." The archive also contains other items (documents, videos, etc.) that shed further light on the emergence and institutionalization of service-learning in higher education over the past fifty years.
