Kristen Jackson, University of Mount Union
Kristen Jackson, a sophomore at the University of Mount Union is the perfect example of a servant leader. During the past two years Kristen has become deeply involved in service-learning, mentoring programs, civic engagement and general community outreach at Mount Union. In addition to personally participating, Kristen finds ways to motivate other students to give back. She is a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, a student employee in our Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement and a mentor in the Dowling Mentor Program. Furthermore, she is a member of CRU and leads youth group programming at a local church. Kristen has plans to continue this type of work in the future through service trips, continued involvement and eventually a career in teaching. At Mount Union we believe in students like Kristen and find her dedication, compassion and motivation all attributes she should be commended for.
-Richard Giese, President
During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to organize various service-learning projects, which inspired my passion for service. When I arrived at the University of Mount Union, I dove head first into Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity which, not only, gave me a chance to impact the community through various organizations, but also helped me to grow as a leader. As time goes on, I continue to involve myself with more honorable organizations. Digging deeper into my love for giving back and making a difference, I found my true passion and desire in influencing the lives of future generations. I have been given the chance to make my mark in children’s lives through being a camp counselor, a mentor in the Dowling Mentor Program, a member of the Navigator’s program staff at Alliance Middle School and a youth leader at First Christian Church Alliance while still continuously volunteering with other organizations throughout the community. This passion led me to my calling to be a middle school teacher and continue to do my best to touch children’s lives while still involving myself with other organizations for the betterment of the community and the world.
