She continues to develop strong leadership skills and understands that working well with others to find common ground helps to keep her service projects moving forward.
I am a sophomore at the University of Central Florida, a leader on and off campus through my involvement and passion to serve fellow students. Since my first semester at college, I envisioned a project where food deserts and insecurities would be eradicated. During my freshmen fall, I started the Green Greeks organization with the mission to plant gardens behind every sorority and fraternity house to offer free organic produce to students in need. Another goal is to destroy the negative stigma around food pantries by having half of the produce utilized by the Greek house and the other half donated to the on-campus pantry.
Currently, I have planted two gardens in the span of 10 months at Pi Beta Phi and Phi Delta Theta. Since Earth Day of 2017, our garden at Pi Beta Phi has produced approximately 73 pounds of produce. Green Greeks is scheduled to plant their third garden in February 2018 at another fraternity house as I work to get my community excited about organically grown produce and the importance of living a healthy and balanced life.
