Kevin Curwick, a junior at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, is a student leader who has demonstrated a great commitment to civic engagement and service. He is an active volunteer himself and, as part of his work in the Bonner Leader Program, he facilitates the connection of other students and partners in Central Minnesota. He has been recognized nationally for his work to stomp out all forms of bullying and help create healthy communities. Kevin Curwick is a servant leader who acts on his values and is a credit to Saint John's and the entire Minnesota community.
My time at CSB/SJU has been focused on engaging with the community and putting those experiences in the greater context of my educational and career aspirations. I participate in the Bonner Leader Program, which aims to involve students in the community to develop their interpersonal skills and awareness of social justice issues. Through this program, I work as a Service-Learning Academic Coordinator in the office of Experiential Learning & Community Engagement (ELCE) where I facilitate the connection between students and partners in central Minnesota.
I am also a National Ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying, an anti-bullying organization aimed at reducing issues in bullying on social media. I have connected with experts in the field and promoted the organization through various mediums such as Twitter, Facebook, The Steve Harvey Show, and On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
Additionally, I took part in an internship at Mayo Clinic this past summer in which I explored, with other researchers, various ways to treat chronic pain from a psychological perspective. Currently, I am working to expand those efforts as I am abroad in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and serving as a volunteer with the Missionvale Care Center.
