Campus Compact is looking for talented, emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds and experiences to commit to a year of national service to make a lasting impact and break the cycle of poverty.

VISTA Leader: Worcester, MA

Member Duties : The VISTA Leader will assist in the creation and provision of member training, technical assistance, resources and support to the national Campus Compact cohort . The VISTA leader will maintain regular communication with an assigned portfolio of members and host site program staff via phone, email, periodic in-person meetings and site visits. In addition to building the annual training and member support program, VISTA Leaders also work on data collection and evaluation, research and develop resource materials for VISTA host sites and members, build capacity for social media and lead annual recruitment. Campus Compact VISTA Leaders have access to professional development opportunities in the Campus Compact network to support their own growth during their year of service. Bi-weekly living allowance $634.20, partial rent subsidy of $350 available (paid to landlord). Bunker Hill Community College: Boston, MA

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) will build capacity in BHCC’s new campus resource “the DISH” (Delivering Information Sustenance and Health). The DISH will operate an innovative food pantry that supports members of the BHCC community and provide nutrition, cooking, and health programming in conjunction with on-campus and off-campus community partners. The VISTA will be on the front-line of the DISH development process by building capacity for the DISH’s operations and management. Activities include: 1) Building the framework for food resource acquisition, publicity and deployment. 2) Developing sustainable operations procedures, including student intern positions, roles and responsibilities. 3) Designing processes for identifying and managing partnership programming. 4) Designing and piloting assessment of DISH operations and programming. Quinsigamond Community College: Worcester, MA

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member at QCC will build capacity and organizational systems for the QCC Food Pantry and Resource Center. The VISTA will recruit student and faculty volunteers to collect food and utilize the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) greenhouse to grow food. The VISTA will mobilize resources to maintain the inventory of food and work together with PTK and student clubs to recruit volunteers and develop relationships with academic departments to provide workshops on health and nutrition. The VISTA will also develop relationships with community partners who can assist students in managing the complex challenges of being a college student on limited income; these include but are not limited to: housing/homelessness, legal aid, budgeting and debt reduction resources, banking reclamation, accessing SNAP benefits. North Park University: Chicago, IL

Member Duties : The VISTA will engage in benchmarking to examine how similar experiential learning programs across the nation effectively serve Pell-eligible students by conducting research and developing a database of comparable experiential learning programs serving Pell-eligible students. Support curriculum development and design by researching curricula from other universities that enhance students’ academic self-concept. The VISTA will conduct online research of curricula used by other universities and develop a report of findings and suggestions for program staff. Compile assessment rubrics and catalog direct and indirect measures that align with this outcome in order to delineate program effectiveness for Pell-eligible students. Develop a database of rubrics and assessment measures and establish connections with other university offices in order to benchmark assessment plans and rubrics and finally, complete a final report of findings and suggestions for program staff. Positions Recruiting for Summer 2020

Positions for the 2020-2021 VISTA cycle will be posted in early Spring. We will be recruiting for positions in CT, IL, KS, MA, MI, NE, RI, SD, VA and WI. Our Campus Compact VISTA members are leveraged to build capacity in one of four anti-poverty priority areas: Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. The start date for the Northeast cohort (CT, RI, MA, VA) is projected to begin July 20, 2020, and the Midwest cohort (IL, KS, MI, NE, SD, WI) August 3, 2020.
