Director of Faculty Engagement and Research, Swearer Center, Assistant Dean of the College

This position will have primary responsibility for the overall leadership, management, and growth of:

1.) Faculty engagement in Swearer Center programs and activities and in the engaged scholarship initiative of the University.

– The Assistant Dean is responsible for creating faculty fluency, appreciation for, and participation in engaged scholarship pedagogy, research, and service. The Assistant Dean is responsible for faculty engagement strategy and development, outreach to faculty and departments, and evaluation and communication strategies related to engaged scholarship.

2.) Research, evaluation and assessment associated with the work of the Center.

– The Assistant Dean is responsible for creating a research, evaluation and assessment strategy for the Center that supports community-based research, internal assessment and program evaluation, and scholarly research in the field of community engagement and social innovation.

3.) An international field building initiative in community engagement and social innovation.

– The Assistant Dean is responsible for facilitating the ongoing work of the field building initiative including relationships with key field organizations, convening’s, and publications.

4.) Decanal duties.

Also, as a member of the Swearer Center Senior Staff, the Assistant Dean represents the Center to internal and external stakeholders; supervises junior staff; and may take on additional roles as the Center continues to grow and evolve. Additionally, the Assistant Dean will conduct portfolio-specific budget planning and forecasting and manage program budget; work with university leadership to develop and execute fundraising strategy for community-engaged scholarship programs for faculty, including proposals and reports; manage significant gifts and grants; serve as a spokesperson for community-engaged scholarship initiatives to internal and external audiences.
