One of Campus Compact’s signature programs, AmeriCorps VISTA, is a key strategy for building the capacity of higher education to contribute to the development of a fully inclusive democracy, economy, and society. AmeriCorps members are recruited to support poverty alleviation initiatives and the development of partnerships between colleges and local community based organizations.

We are seeking someone to support our national AmeriCorps VISTA program, leading efforts to build a diverse and passionate group of people committed to making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable and to building capacity for lasting change. The Program Coordinator manages a portfolio of sites and AmeriCorps members, leads key aspects of program development, and supports the day-to-day functioning of the program.  The Program Coordinator is part of a highly collaborative and small team, reporting to Campus Compact’s VISTA Program Director.


Summary of Duties: 

  • Support a designated portfolio of host sites, AmeriCorps members, and VISTA Leaders
  • Coordinate logistical and programmatic elements of AmeriCorps member and host site supervisor orientation and training
  • Support AmeriCorps member and VISTA Leader recruitment, selection, and placement process
  • Support the development of a comprehensive program evaluation and data collection systems for AmeriCorps members and host sites
  • Support the development of VISTA project host sites and the annual RFP and application process
  • Understand the scope, landscape, and federal regulations regarding national service programming and actively manage federal grant management systems
  • Provide administrative oversight, including time sheet review and time monitoring and expense reporting, to VISTA Leaders
  • Fully participate in all Campus Compact team meetings and activities
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related academic program; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant program and administrative experience; 3+ years is preferred
  • Knowledge of AmeriCorps or other national service programs; direct experience with VISTA, AmeriCorps, or a related initiative is strongly preferred
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
    Knowledge of and experience with the software necessary to implement related duties
  • Strong initiative and personal integrity with demonstrated ability to independently implement program expectations, identify and resolve day-to-day problems, and work collaboratively with colleagues on program activities.
  • Ability to plan and implement workshops, meetings, and events that meet specific programmatic goals and service designated target audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and supervisory skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators as well as community-based agencies/groups and the public

Physical requirements:

  • This is primarily a sedentary position requiring the ability to sit at a desk and use a computer most of the day
  • Minor bending and lifting periodically (mostly related to help with events)
  • Ability to travel extensively regionally and nationally


We are prioritizing applicants who able to work a hybrid schedule out of our Boston or Chicago offices

The anticipated salary range for this position is $45,000-$50,000, with the final salary to be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
