The Professional Development Manager position is an opportunity to help Campus Compact extend its support for civic and community engagement practitioners seeking to enhance their skills, knowledge, and critical commitments in ways that emphasize equity and yield better outcomes for students, institutions, and communities.

This position reports to and works on a day-to-day basis with the Director of Institutional Capacity Building and interacts with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders from across the higher education sector.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of in-person and virtual professional development programs in support of Campus Compact’s signature initiatives.
  • Bring together and facilitate design teams to ensure member needs and expertise are centered across all programs.  
  • Regularly identify member and partner thought-leaders and advance ideas for how they may be involved/engaged in Compact programming and supporting community engagement professionals. 
  • Foster collaborative relationships and partnerships with aligned organizations and entities through shared programming, institutes, and initiatives. 
  • Actively communicate with program participants and prospective participants regarding key aspects of the designated activity. 
  • Collaborate with the member engagement team to ensure program logistics and planning are managed effectively and efficiently. 
  • Support the Community Engagement Professional Credentialing program through maintenance of the online credentialing system and management of application and review processes.
  • Develop and maintain online resource library and support the development and dissemination of Compact publications
  • Oversee the review and selection process for the Campus Compact’s Impact Awards
  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote professional development, recruitment of participants, and share stories of impact

  • Has a strong attention to detail and a successful track record in task management and sound decision making.
  • Has experience organizing and facilitating professional learning experiences.
  • Understands and has experience with community-engaged work in higher education.
  • Wants to work for an organization driven by their values. We’re looking for candidates who are motivated to make a difference in the world.
  • Is an effective collaborator with strong team engagement skills. 
  • Has a deep personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Has a bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and work experience. Master’s degree preferred. 

The most qualified candidates might have experience with:

  • Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, SurveyMonkey, SurveyMonkey Apply, Credly, and Salesforce
  • Working across difference
  • Facilitating group/stakeholder meetings


$60,000-$70,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
