Reporting to the Vice President of Student Success and Diversity, the Director of the Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity works cross-divisionally and collaboratively with all campus constituencies to implement data-driven programs and initiatives to help provide a welcoming, equitable, inclusive and celebratory campus environment for intercultural students, and their allies. The Director of LGCIE has as a primary responsibility the coordination, planning and implementation of programs and services to promote inclusion and success of intercultural students at Bridgewater State University.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Vice President of Student Success and Diversity SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, supervision and evaluation of two staff members, and student employees.
This position is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

· Manage the daily operation of the Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity including budget management, assessment, strategic planning and assessment, supervision.· Inform campus’ practice and policy as relates to the success of intercultural students.· Lead innovative, collaborative and persistent student success efforts within an equity framework focused on supporting the admission, retention, success, and graduation of students of color from a wide range of diverse and intersectional identities.· Serve as source of information about campus resources committed to intercultural students in support of their academic success, sense of joyful belonging, student life involvement, and overall well-being.· Partner with the Vice President in the university’s efforts to integrate evidence-based practices into policies and service delivery models focused on supporting the success of intercultural students.· Partner with the Department of Admissions on the recruitment of Black/Cape Verdean, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, and other students of color.· Recruit, train and supervise staff, graduate assistants and student workers.· Design, implement and assess campus-wide events and diversity trainings and celebrations such BSU’s Kente cloth celebration, Black History Month, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month.· Develop strong working relationships campus-wide and across the region in order to support the measurable success of intercultural students.· Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data-driven decision making for the programs, services and activities within core duties.· In partnership with BSU Marketing and Communications staff, maintains the LGCIE extranet and intranet presence on the University website.· Monitor national and regional intellectual trends in higher education focused on the student success of intercultural students and apply such information to help inform and assess campus efforts in these areas.· Serve on BSU’s Racial Equity and Justice Institute team focused on racial educational equity at BSU; the team currently has over 40 members from across the university.· Other duties as assigned by the divisional vice president. Attendance at some university events at night or on weekends may be required.
· Master’s degree.· At least three years of progressive leadership experience in supporting the inclusion, support and success of intercultural students in a higher education setting or a relevant position in an organization serving intercultural communities.· Knowledge of and experience implementing effective best practices for supporting the inclusion and success of members of the intercultural communities within an equity-oriented intersectional framework.· Demonstrated experience effectively serving members of intercultural communities with intersecting identities such as LGBTQA+ people of color, people of color with a range of abilities, linguistically diverse people of color, and intercultural individuals with the full range of assets and stressors.· Experience supervising staff and/or student workers.· Experience using data to identify service needs, designing educational and direct service strategies intended to address the needs and assessing the effectiveness of these strategies in an effort to support the success of intercultural members of the BSU community.· Experience working with partner/community organizations on behalf of racial equity and justice.
· Linguistic proficiency in Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole and/or French.· Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in supporting the inclusion, support and success of intercultural students in a higher education setting or a relevant position in an organization serving racially minoritized communities.· Experience working in a diverse and inclusive team environment.· Experience being engaged in data-informed racial equity work.· Experience working collaboratively within a large organization actively engaged in equity and justice efforts.
