College Positive Volunteerism

One of the primary ways that colleges and universities engage with communities is through partnerships with K-12 schools and youth serving organizations. College students regularly interact with young people through tutoring, mentoring and other programming as part of partnership work. College Positive Volunteerism encourages deep attention to the impact that college students, administrators and others have on the college enthusiasm and readiness of K-12 youth they interact with in through service activities. As a college access program, College Positive Volunteerism seeks to increase college enrollment and success for all students, and especially underrepresented students, by providing them with support and information about college preparation, paying for college, career selection, financial resources, etc.
