INSTITUTE FULL We are ready to get to work with the 400+ colleges and universities that have signed Campus Compact’s 30th Anniversary Action Statement and made commitments to develop campus civic action plans in the year ahead. Please join us for one of three fall Civic Action Planning Institutes throughout the country to provide planning teams with inspiration, information, and time to share resources and ideas for leveraging existing campus infrastructure for engagement and for boldly exploring new areas and opportunities for impact. The agenda will include: overview of principles and goals of the 30th Anniversary Action Statement introduction to campus civic action planning processes exploration of key planning concepts - asset orientation - meaning of community engagement - capacity building systems and policy change - culture change - integration of teaching, research and institutional action - maximizing student and community impact Sessions will include large group discussion as well as team planning time. The CUMU Annual Conference is the largest nationwide meeting of leaders from urban and metropolitan universities and colleges. We are a diverse community filled with people who are doing great things and who want to help others achieve great things. An Exchange of Ideas Never in our history, has the need to be deeply engaged and committed to developing and sustaining impactful partnerships been more important. This year's theme, Charting the Future of Metropolitan Universities, is designed to generate dialogue that examines the biggest challenges and opportunities facing our institutions and cities. A robust exchange of ideas will help us examine how we can transform our institutions to meet the needs of our community and students. What Keeps You Up at Night? On November 11-12 at UNC Asheville, North Carolina Campus Compact will host its annual CSNAP Student Conference, an event where student leaders can explore citizenship, service, networking, and partnerships. The main event on Saturday (11/12, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) will feature workshops by college student leaders and a showcase of social change organizations who work with students, including the Campus Kitchens Project, the Rachel Carson Council, and S.C.A.L.E. The optional Friday evening session (11/11, 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) features Jonathan Santos, an Asheville-based Soul-Songwriter, Poet, Cultural Community worker and Educator. He will perform and help students create their own Personal Poetic Mission Statement. Call for Workshop Proposals Conference Registration Form - registration ends Oct. 17 $75 per person – Campus Compact member schools / $95 per person - non-member schools (includes Friday night and Saturday conference).
